Each tract or lot will be sold to the highest bidder. The payment for any tract or lot purchased at a sale shall be made by check or money order payable to the sheriff of the county and delivered before the close of business on the day of the sale.

After the sale of any tax lien on any real property purchased at the delinquent land sales conducted by the sheriffs, the owner of, or any other person who was entitled to pay the taxes on, any real property purchased by an individual may redeem at any time before a tax deed is issued.
In order to redeem real property purchased by an individual in all counties with the exception of Kanawha County, the owner of, or any other person who was entitled to pay the taxes shall pay to the State Auditor in certified funds, the total amount payable to sheriff and the cost of the Certification of Redemption, as well to provide a signed affidavit for redeeming real estate as provide by the West Virginia State Auditor’s Office.
For the county of Kanawha those redeeming must contact the County Clerk in this respective county for the amount required to redeem.
Please be aware you must calculate cost separately for each certificate of sale you purchased. If you have multiple personal processes in various states for the same certificate you must enter them separately in the personal process field. The calculator will hold more than one entry.
